Stila, NYX, & Ulta | Haul

Firstly, I would like to apologize for my lack of posts during the past several months. I am in the last stretch of college, with just my thesis defense to finish and have been overwhelmingly busy. Posts should become more abundant and more regular come September, as I will finally be done. (Whoohoo. happy dance.)

Okay, on with the fun stuff! This is a long overdue haul. This stuff has seriously been sitting in the Ulta bag for such a long time. However, I did use the eyeliner and after taking these photos tested most of the other products.

stila | the star of the haul

I went in to Ulta specifically to get myself a waterproof liquid eyeliner. When I was there last time I tested damn near every liquid liner available, from Urban Decay's infamous liner to the lesser known brands. In the midst of this, amongst other things, I tested the stila waterproof liner. I liked how smooth it went on and that it had a very fine tip but wasn't expecting it to have such immense staying power. I washed all of the swatches from the back of my hand when  I got home and to my surprise the only liner that didn't budge was the stila one! At that point I was convinced that it was worth giving it a try. When I went back in to get it I found my Ulta had finally gotten the new Benefit liquid liner, so naturally I tried it but I still ended up going with the stila. I will do a review of this soon, as I freakin' LOVE it!

They were offering a free cute little stila lip color/cream blush in peony after spending so much money. Peony is really a color I probably never would have bought for myself. In the container it's a dark pinky nude that honestly kinda scared me, but it is so lovely and natural looking on the skin! Anyway, with the liner I only needed to spend a few more dollars to get it so I got this really lovely stila lip glaze in blood orange. It's got a rather thick consistency and nice sheerish coverage, overall I really like it.

NYX & Ulta

On my way out I always cruise through the drugstore section of Ulta and when I did I found the NYX brow kit I had been looking for so I grabbed that. I think NYX was buy one get one 1/2 off or something because I also grabbed this really lovely bright blue-toned pink NYX matte finish lipstick. This shade is Angel and it has a nice creamy formula that isn't drying or anything and goes on really nicely. And finally the last product I grabbed was this Ulta Professional nail lacquer bonding base coat. I was pretty much out of my Seche clear basecoat and since I wasn't that impressed with it  (which was unexpected because I absolutely adore Seche Vite top coat) I thought I would try something new. My sister (Watching for Pigs on the Wing) said she liked her Orly bonding basecoat so I thought I would try this one, as it was also on sale.

Whoo! I feel like that was really wordy for quite a small haul. If you made it to the end a huge thank you and you get 10 gold stars.

What's your favorite waterproof liquid liner? Does anyone love that new Benefit liner? I'd love to know form someone who has bought it and used it. Let us know in the comments! :D

  1. Have you tried the Urban Decay liquid eyeliner?? Do you prefer Stila? I need a new black eyeliner, and was originally considering Urban Decay, but it quite expensive, and wondering if there are other alternative cheaper brands out there.

    1. I have not actually purchased the Urban Decay liquid eyeliner, but from testing it in stores against others I was more impressed with the staying power of the Stila one. I'm not sure of the price difference, I payed $16 for this one.

As for cheaper alternatives, I have tried several drugstore liquid liners and I think my favorite is the Revlon Colorstay Liquid liner. It's not got quite the staying power of this one but if you 'set' it with a little black black eyeshadow it works well.

Also, your blog is absolutely gorgeous (as well as your product photography). I'm now following you on bloglovin <3

    1. I have really only seen it at Ulta. I think they ship internationally, I don't know much about that though. I believe they are also expanding internationally so hopefully you can get some soon!

  7. Is the matte lipstick drying? We have naturally drier lips so we are always weary about matte lip products

    1. So sorry for the incredibly delayed response! But if you still wanted to know, I do find it slightly drying when I don't moisturize my lips before using it.
